A quick guide to nightlife around Singapore and things to do once the sun sets.

Nightlife in Singapore is honestly not the most robust, but it does not mean that it is dead. There are tons of things to do once the sun sets, be it shopping, clubbing, bar-hopping and eating supper. Although it does not occupy the entirety of the city, this post will summarise some of the popular areas to visit at night.

Shopping
Shopping malls in Singapore typically close around 9pm onwards, with some establishments open until 10, this gives ample opportunity for those that want to shop past dinnertime, and allows you to even get a snack or supper at some of the food establishments. Popular shopping spots that open later are the malls located around town, in particular the malls along Orchard Road.

Clubbing and Alcohol
There are many clubs and bars in Singapore where you can drink alcohol. However, please check with the establishment beforehand if alcohol can be consumed past a certain time. This is because Singapore has a strict policy regarding the consumption of alcohol, especially in relation to establishments without a proper license. Sale of alcohol and consumption outside is not allowed and the authorities take a strict stance on this, so please do not try to break the rules if you don't want any trouble. However, the re-assuring thing is that many bars and clubs have obtained a licence to serve alcohol til the wee hours in the morning, you just have to do your research as I will not be recommending any such establishments in particular. Alcohol in Singapore is also heavily taxed, so please be prepared to pay a heftier price then elsewhere around the world. If you want cheaper alcohol, you can still buy them in your local supermarkets or coffeeshops but they will have to adhere to the strict timing when it comes to the sale or consumption of alcohol at their premises.

Supper
Most food establishments in Singapore have designated opening hours and do not open til late. However, there are certain places that specialise in suppers in Singapore, especially those offering light meals to cure those with hangover after a night of partying. Likewise, you will have to do your own research as these places are far and between, with some of the more popular ones located nearer to the heartlands. In any case, there are certain fast food establishments that are open 24/7 so you might want to get a meal there too.
