Little India
Little India is also a popular place to visit in Singapore. It has great history, culture and food if you have more time to spare and offers a very different glimpse to how cultures integrate in Singapore and to top that of, both Chinatown and Little India are both on the North-East Line, making exploring both places extremely convenient.
Below is a list of stuff to explore around Little India in Singapore:
On the top of the list has got to be the Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple and the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, which are both old temples which is filled with Hindi culture and is built with so much influence of both religion and culture.
Besides all the shops located all around Little India (which includes sale of traditional goods, Indian sweets, and even Henna), there are shops selling fabrics and fresh flower garlands which are part of the culture there. On top of that, there is the mother of all shops in Singapore which is Mustafa Center, a massive 24 hour shopping mall that sells everything from groceries to electronics to traditional spices – a must visit for someone that needs to get all things local. However, please do not expect luxury brands type shopping that you find at Orchard Road or the town area.
Food options are aplenty as well, Tekka Centre is a popular authentic spot for finding some local Indian fare, and theres also many coffeeshops and cafes selling traditional Indian food for probably a more premium price (if air-con and fancier dining is your thing).
