Things that might land you in Singapore prison

Singapore prison is tough - a quick guide on how not to end up in jail while travelling Singapore. There are rules in place, but it is surprisingly easy to navigate.

I don't believe there are many people that probably want to experience prison as an attraction. So here are a few tips on how to avoid ending up in prison in Singapore.

Singapore treats its laws very seriously, especially those surrounding violence, drugs or even traffic laws - our law enforcement agencies are usually quick to act. This post is not meant to comprehensively cover every violation, but some of the more common ones include:

No Littering
No Jaywalking (jaywalking is actually a very stupid offence to get caught for, you typically only get caught if there is a crossing nearby for you to commit the offence)
No Vapes (this is very heavily enforced these days)
No consumption or trafficking of drugs, including weed (weed is an illegal substance in Singapore and peddling drugs above a certain amount will amount to the death penalty)
No Violence (self-explanatory, even if you are on alcohol)
No Nudity in public (it constitutes as harassment)
No Vandalism (includes spray painting of defacing any structure)
and the list goes on.

Contrary to popular belief, Singapore does not ban the consumption of gum, but it bans the sale and distribution of gum in Singapore. Not disposing it properly might also attract the arm of the law.

Some of the offences above might be petty offences and only attract a fine. However, lets all do our part and not even try to commit any such offences that might land anyone in trouble.
