Can I solo travel in Singapore?

Quick tips for the solo travellers looking to solo travel in Singapore. There are ways to get to meet people, or if the preference is to remain alone, Singapore is not a bad destination for people looking to traverse a foreign country alone.

If you are a solo traveller looking to explore Singapore and you don't know whether Singapore is safe enough? or exciting enough for a trip? Fret not! Singapore is probably the easiest destination (alongside Japan) to solo travel at. There are plenty of accommodations for solo travellers, the streets are safe at night and generally it is travelling on easy mode.

Do read my other guides as they would be applicable to the solo traveller as well but the best part of Singapore is that there is no societal expectation for people to have meals in a group, people are more than okay to have meals alone here and there is basically no disadvantage to just travelling as one. In fact, it might be better as you can get seats easier in restaurants or can enter attraction rides to skip the queue!

If you are into meeting people, there is no judgment when heading to the pub or clubs alone, and what I have observed is that people are generally fine with interactions as long as you don't come across as overbearing or creepy. Other than that, certain subreddits in Singapore are great for meeting people!

One tricky thing that I can think of is probably how would 1 reserve seating in a hawker centre if you are just 1 person, will your belongings get stolen? I have never seen anyone's belongings get stolen while trying to reserve a seat, but it would be prudent not to leave your valuables to reserve. Easy things that can be used to reserve a seat at the hawker centre or food court would be a water bottle or umbrella. Other than this, I would say that Singapore is great for solo travelling, and I wish you have a perfect trip ahead!
